Great sophomore release from a new author.

I was thrilled to be selected as an influencer by author Amber Lynn Perry to promote the release of her second book, So True a Love, and to be given a free copy.
This followup to her debut novel, So Fair a Lady, does not suffer from a sophomore slump in any way. Sometimes sequels struggle because the characters are well known and already introduced, so the plot has to pick up quickly. There was no problem of that here. Things began happening quickly.
It was frustrating to see how Kitty handled being blackmailed, yet that made total sense when compounded with her refusal to support to the patriot cause. This book was very driven by Kitty's emotions, which was necessary due to the fact that she takes longer to make decisions than Eliza did in the first book. This was a great way to distinguish the personalities of the two sisters. While Eliza was quickly convinced to make decisions and follow through, Kitty wanted to be certain of something and was not easily swayed. She did exactly what she thought was right, which was true to her father's assessment of being stubborn and headstrong. Yet she was also compassionate and tenderhearted, resulting in a complex characterization.
Nathaniel served as a perfect foil for Kitty, and I enjoyed their interactions. He was just as stubborn and just as convinced of his beliefs being correct, but had to accept that some of his convictions were based on fear. It was very satisfying to watch him realize that he didn't have all of the answers and find some humility.
A quick note about something that might seem like a small detail but I loved - in both books, the author wrote from the villain's point of view. I thought she did so in a really profound way in this book especially. Although you could absolutely feel how despicable he was and that wasn't lessened by knowing his motivations, it gave the story plausibility and depth.
I absolutely love reading about the Colonial era, and I'm thrilled that such a gifted new author is passionate about setting her stories during such an exciting time and let me have a hand in her promotion.

Read it in one day! I just could not stop...

This sweet book gets 5 stars from me because I could not.put.it.down! I loved Kitty and Nathaniel, especially from their introductions in the first book in the series, "So Fair A Lady". Nathaniel is such a funny and likeable hero, I was eagerly awaiting the release of his story.
While there are many books in the Christian Historical Fiction genre that emphasize the details of the setting of the story, this is not one of them, in my opinion. That is to say, the backdrop is described well and the plot is intriguing, but there are many more pages dedicated to the romantic tension and encounters between Kitty and Nathaniel than the setting. And I'm fine with that! :) It's kind of nice to read a book where the leading characters are interacting on a frequent basis vs. long stretches apart or a lot of the plot played out until they meet up again. As soon as I finished it, I told my good friends they had to pick up this series! It is a sweet, swoon-worthy experience!

VERY ENJOYABLE!

I enjoyed the first book of this series very much, but enjoyed this second book in the series even more. The first two thirds of the book was a little repetitive for me, but necessary for laying the foundation for the two main characters, Kitty and Nathaniel. As the story progressed, I found the last third of the book VERY hard to put down; all of the situations and characters came into vivid excitement for me. The way the story moved to its conclusion was quite satisfying and believable; you could understand why the little, seemingly uninteresting people and incidents were necessary for pulling all the facts together at the end. I AM ANXIOUSLY AWAITING THE NEXT BOOK!
